Cheek augmentation (or cheek implants) is a general term that describes surgery to enhance the appearance of one’s cheeks.  The desired effect is to change the shape or size of the cheek to look younger or more attractive, or to correct flaws caused by birth defects of injury.

Personal power is the self-belief and confidence to know that you are capable of anything you set your mind to. It means you feel good about yourself, and that you do not rely upon others’ opinions to feel good about yourself. Such a strength is something we all want our children to have.

Our children are indeed born with such qualities. They believe they can do anything, and won’t give up until they do, or get what they want. Unfortunately though, through life they pick up messages to the contrary. But there are ways that parents can teach their children and empower them to have the confidence to try new things and focus on their abilities rather than their failures:-

Peter was a hyperactive 7 year old child. He was disruptive and aggressive. He attended a Special Education school and was taking “Ritalin”. This helped him attain some kind of normalcy in his behaviour. In addition it enabled him to learn.

However Peter could not always control his behaviour and often times there were outbursts in the house. His Mother explained this to the children. She said she understood it might be embarrassing for them, especially in the presence of company. She gave them a book from the library to read, on the subject of “hyperactivity”. This proved to be an extremely useful aid for them. The book had a wealth of information, and advice. To the younger children Peter’s Mother gently explained Peter’s problem in a general way. She encouraged them to try not to provoke him and to be nice to him.

Self-esteem is the collection of feelings or beliefs that we have about ourselves. How we define ourselves influences our motivations, attitudes, and behaviors and affects our emotional well being. Self-confidence, great relationships, and a good shot at success in whatever you attempt is the prize for self esteem. Now is the time to think about your overall self appraisal of your own self worth, self-confidence and self respect and how this influences your children and others around you and what you can do about it this Christmas season.

Having healthy self esteem will produce:

- Armor against life’s challenges

A writer once wrote, “No nation is greater than its mothers, for they are the makers of men” But, when I turn on my television and see the numbers of mothers who are killing their children I must ask myself, “What drives a mother to point of killing her own child?” “What is it in our society that makes a mother feel so desperate, so alone, that she believes her only recourse is the death of herself and her children?” Andrea Yates, who killed her five children; Dee Etta Perez, who shot her three children; Deanna Lany, who beat her two sons; Lisa Ann Diaz who drowned her daughters; Dena Schlosser, who fatally severed her daughters arms; and now Gilberta Estrada, who hung herself and her children. Not to mention the countless number of babies that are born and left in dumpsters even with the passing of a new law that says they can leave them in safe places and receive no repercussions.
