Why do we become parents?

Do we have a moral obligation to become parents? Some would say: yes. There are three types of arguments to support such a contention:

(i) We owe it to humanity at large to propagate the species or to society to provide manpower for future tasks

(ii) We owe it to ourselves to realize our full potential as human beings and as males or females by becoming parents

(iii) We owe it to our unborn children to give them life.

Consider exercising great caution and restraint when you speak about your ex within earshot of your children. They still love him/her and it causes them great pain to hear you put them down.

If we remain wounded as a result of our divorce, our emotions can spill over onto our children and not have a good effect on them. One of the areas where our hurts can most easily affect our children, is the way we speak about their other parent, our ex. Blame should not enter the picture.
