Another Fine Art

One couple recently introduced their three-year-old daughter to the ‘fine art’ of dishwashing. She so enjoyed her time at the sink. It was regarded as quality playtime.

On sharing this news with other parents, some were shocked at a three-year-old washing dishes - and appearing to enjoy it. Apparently, other pre-schoolers had wanted to help in their kitchens but were dissuaded by their parents.

“How strange,” commented the couple, “and then when the children become teenagers and no longer desire to clean plates, parents insist that they do!”

Games For Traveling With Children

Summer is here — that wonderful season when we take our kids on trips to enjoy nature and some relaxed family time together. Of course, whether it is the cottage, a camp site, or a resort, we have to get there first and that’s not always easy. Whether driving in the car, waiting for a bus, or waiting at the airport, having something to do with the kids can be a lifesaver! What our family loves to do is to play games. I have assembled here some of our favorite games. The first two are car games, but the rest can work anywhere. Enjoy!

Dressed Like That

The following conversation can be heard in many homes - “No, you are not going out dressed like that.” - as a father speaks to his daughter.

“Why?”

“Because it’s wrong.”

“Why is it wrong?”

“Because it’s not right.”

“Oh, you are so old fashioned. It’s just your opinion - that it’s not right - that it’s wrong.”

Stop for a moment and consider carefully where clothing came from.

When God first created man and woman - Adam and Eve - not Adam and Steve - there was a perfection and purity which gradually deteriorated.

Four Year Old Toys

Toys for children up to the age of three are by and large unisex, but once the child crosses the threshold of age three, the toy world seems to undergo a sea change and a majority of toys are designed specifically keeping a boy or girl in mind. As the child’s choice of toys begins to undergo a change it signals a change in the child’s thought pattern and sensibilities too.

Toys for four year old boys and girls are usually educational with some favorite cartoon characters involved in the learning process. Popular toys are Lego, Interactive TV devices, Quiz games, Concentration or Guess games, Puzzles, Play houses with tents and lights etc and a lot more to choose from.
