Pregnancy And Fertility - The Benefits Of Taking Time Out For You And Baby In Pregnancy
Everybody else seems to be an expert. So much advice from well-meaning friends and family. People telling you ‘this will change and that will happen’…predicting what it will be like for you.
Sometimes it feels as if what they are saying bares no resemblance to what you are experiencing. Others seem to be just spewing up their own unresolved issues.
You are a completely unique individual with a completely unique baby. And what is true for others, might not be relevant to your situation in any way whatsoever.
Sometimes it can be hard though. You want to do the best for baby. You are sure you want to be a good mum or dad. AND you want to be alert to the best advice.
It can feel overwhelming at times.
The Benefits of Taking ‘Time Out’ For You When You Are Pregnant
- Taking time out for you has the immediate effect of relaxing you (and baby). We can only take time out if we feel we have it, that we are supported enough, that we are worthy of it. So the very process of giving yourself time to focus on you is a wonderful support for yourself and the baby.
- In doing this, your actions are communicating ‘Yes I have time for me’, ‘Yes it is ok for me to take care of myself’, ‘Yes I am worth it’. And guess whose little ears are taking in everything mom is doing?
Your baby is receiving these messages loud and clear. If you are giving yourself the time to take a breather, you are getting her into the habit of making decisions that support her in life too.
- You are probably familiar with times in the past when you regretted not listening to the voice within. In pregnancy it is easy for the opinions of others to drown out the whispers of your own wisdom.
But you have the natural ability to know what step to take in each moment.
- Your body is deeply wise. It is the same body that knew exactly how to develop from the union of an egg and sperm in the beautiful woman you are today. Advice, information, facts and statistics were not required to make the journey.
The ability to steer your course was not an intellectual achievement. It came from within yourself, from your own very core. Taking time out allows you to tap into that wisdom.
You can give yourself permission to take time out now. Sometimes it is easier to join in the structure of a group with other women who are pregnant.
Deirdre Morris would like to invite you to participate in her pilot Pregnancy Teleclass which she is offering for FREE as a gift to mums and their babies.
