I Have An Imaginary Airplane Named Spiritual
While flying in Spiritual a few days ago, below me I saw a layer of clouds and because of them, I didn’t know where I was. Every once in awhile, as I flew along, I saw a hole in the clouds and far below, I could see the vast expanse of the ground. It soon became obvious that Spiritual and I were flying over a barren desert that spread from horizon to horizon.
In confusion, I looked at my compass and then at my chart to find out where I was. Suddenly, another hole appeared in the clouds and as I looked through it at the desert below, I saw an emerald green place that stood out like a jewel in the surrounding brown sands. I banked my airplane to fly closer, and recognized the green area as an oasis. All at once I saw a familiar building! I knew where I was! I wasn’t lost after all! Even from high above I knew the living green paradise, the oasis and the building I was looking at down there, was my own church!
I relaxed behind the controls of my plane as Spiritual and I did a slow climbing turn back toward the airport. It was then that I realized the Lord had just given me a vision of my church from what could be His perspective. In other words, my church, as seen from above in my plane, and perhaps as seen by God himself, is like a beautiful jewel. It was an oasis of living faith in a vast surrounding desert of worldly unbelief.
As I flew along with this new and revealing view of my church in my mind’s eye, the truth of what I’d heard a year ago at a Christian men’s convention came back to me:
“A revelation is not a revelation until it is a revelation to me.”
If you want to share a similar revelation provided by God, you are invited to climb aboard my imaginary airplane, “Spiritual” with me next Sunday in church. While we’re there, the Lord is sure to speak through the pastor and give us a new revelation of His Word as, together; we take off - with Jesus - on another memorable and revealing - spiritual flight high above the oasis that is your church.
