Decorating A Themed Baby Shower

May-31-2008 By admin

Decorations form an important part of any baby shower and often serve to set the scene and get your party off to a swing right from the word go. For this reason you should spend a little bit of time thinking carefully about your decoration well ahead of your special day.

Ensuring that the mother-to-be gets just the gifts that she needs and wants is an important part of organizing a baby shower and, with a little bit of planning, this is not too difficult to achieve.

Food, drink and of course a cake are essential for any good party and for your baby shower this in one area of planning which needs some careful thought.

There is nothing more wonderful than celebrating the arrival of a new baby with a baby shower but one important question to ask is whether not the event should be a surprise for the mother-to-be.

Baby shower favors are often something of an afterthought and yet they are a very important part of your overall baby shower planning and need to be considered well in advance of your special day.

The History Of Perfume

May-31-2008 By admin

Much of the history of perfume is a mystery.  Perfume is thousands of years old.  Most of the oldest uses of fragrances come from incense and aromatic herbs, primarily used in religious services.

The Egyptians were the first to use perfume followed by the Arabs, Carthaginians, Chinese, Greeks, Hindus, Israelites and Romans.  The Egyptians were the first culture to invent glass; and therefore, the first to use perfume in bottles. There is evidence that perfumery began with the burning of resins and gum for incense as early as 7000 B.C.  Papyrus manuscripts, indicating the use of herbs, perfumes, different oils and incense used for healing salves, were recorded during the time the great Pyramids were built in 2700 B.C.  When King Tutankhamen’s tomb was opened thousands of years later, there still existed the faint odor of spices such as frankincense.

Finding Great Fragrances Is An Art

May-31-2008 By admin

The history of perfume provides that the ancient Greeks deemed the making of perfume an art. So before going out to the perfume shop to purchase, remember the Greeks beliefs as well as my own, and that is that finding great fragrances takes an open mind and a keen sense of smell.

The purposes of the art have been thought to be didactic, cathartic, distracting, profane, sanctifying and elevating.  Like all arts, perfume should engage our attention to a most satisfactory end ? first creating expectation and then satisfying it in a way much different and better than for which we hoped.

A Litany of Jewelry

In the words of the illustrious designer Coco Chanel, “A girl should be two things:  classy and fabulous?.

One of the ways to become classy and fabulous is by wearing “classy and fabulous jewels?!

The ancient Egyptians were the first to experiment with gold in 3000 BC.  Gold was rare, did not tarnish and could easily be made into various forms.  They made metalizing jewelry, handcrafted unique jewelry, handmade wood jewelry, custom handcrafted jewelry, handcrafted beaded jewelry for applications such as collars, bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, head ornaments and pectoral ornaments of gold.  When King Tutankhamen’s tomb was discovered in 1922, it contained many gold artifacts including the King’s gold funeral mask.

Carers do a very important job and those dealing with mental illness can find themselves in very stressful situations.  If a carer does not take care of themselves it will not be long before health problems arise for them too.  Strategies for dealing with the day to day issues and focusing on the recovery of the mentally ill person are issues to be addressed.

I used to think that anyone afflicted with a mental illness was going to be a very ill person for the rest of their lives.
